Green With Envy

That’s what you will be when you see my new laser pen! It should project a green beam at night which will be useful for pointing out astronomical things to people. I’m going to try it out during my after-dinner talk at the Reading 41 Club tomorrow night.

  1. Lasers don’t project a beam.  They emit coherant photons of light.  It only appears to be a beam because the light reflects of the dust in the atmosphere.

  2. Yes, these gadgets are really cool – seen Richard Hall use one of these at The Phoenix Astro Society in the Wairarapa, NZ – so easy for us lay folk to see the objects when an expert points them out with one of these.
